Guest smith_ts Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Hello there everyone, I'm trying but seem to be failing at the moment so would like your expert help please.... I'm using a C550 and an M3100. I'm using a laptop running Windows XP. Ps I'm on Orange. What i would like to do is set-up the laptop so it uses my mobile providers GPRS to access the internet. I've done it in the past with a C500 but i hear their are problems running this way with XP. It used to be be done by attaching the handset by USB and using its modem link. You would then go into windows and amend the dial up options. Not so easy this time. Thanks for any help and hey, thanks for looking! smith_ts
Guest Monolithix (MVP) Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I think the modem driver is probably on the CD in the box, but i've never tried using it over cable (not since the E100 at least!). If you have bluetooth its a lot simpler as it picks up the bluetooth modem when you pair it. Then just add the orange dial up details and away you go.
Guest smith_ts Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 Hello, Thought i best pop back on to say its all sorted. I followed this link for the settings http://www.modaco.com/PC_and_Phone_connections-t89283.html and popped them in. The only problem i had was the fact i had to use the same Com (USB) port each time i want to do it. I was going insane at first because everytime i connected it said new hardware!! To all that have not tried it, its great. If your stuck somewhere with no internet connection or Wi-Fi you can nick just follow this and use your phone networks GRPS to access the full web on your laptop, mint! Maybe i finally have a reason to get that 3G upgrade now as it can be slow. Cheers
