Guest Paul (MVP) Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 In this press release, broadband solutions specialist ZyXEL have announced their V660 Smartphone. Specs are as follows...The V660 is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile Edition 5.0 and combines form and function with its 1.9-inch display. The mobile phone also includes a 2.0 megapixel camera, video and MP3 player, 64mb on-board memory, a MicroSD expandable memory slot for further storage capacity and comes with Skype software pre-installed. Underwhelming i'm sure you'll agree -particularly the 1.9" screen - but the device does have a trick up it's sleeve...The V660 routes calls based on network availability, optimising cost and quality of service (QoS). The V660 will automatically hunt for an open access WiFi hotspot and includes standard encryption methods including WPA/WPA2/TLS as well as Virtual Private Network (VPN) support ensuring secure VoWLAN calls. The phone can be configured as required providing SMBs and consumers with a hassle free, flexible approach to mobile communications. The device is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2007. P PS Yes, it's a PPC 2003 screenshot on the press picture! ;) Via MSMobiles
Guest Monolithix (MVP) Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Surely it would be cheaper and have a wider appeal if ZyXEL just sold the application? That bit sounds cool but i would imagine you'll have to shell out a fortune for a crap (albeit wifi enabled) handset as well...?
