Guest clive_j Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 I have seen a few threads on a variety of forums on this sort of problem but not found a solution! History: PC ran Win2000 and Office2000 fine and ActiveSync 4.1 to MDA Pro (HTC Universal) via USB worked fine. Upgraded OS to Win XP (in-place upgrade) HTC would no longer sync - may have connected it before AS was running Installed AS4.5 - then found it is not compatible with Office 2000 Removed AS4.5 and then installed AS4.2 Now when I plug HTC the following happens: PC gives 3 low rapid bongs, In Device Manager/Network Adapters - Windows Mobile-based Device #9 appears with a yellow exclamation mark 12 seconds later it disappears accompanied by a bing-bong When it worked I don't recall it making those same noises (maybe different ones) when connecting/disconnecting. Neither do I recall the entry in the Adapters section. Though I may have just missed it! "Connect" on AS (on the PC) never detects the HTC on the USB port although notes "USB is available" Running AS from HTC it gives support code 0x85020004 Also sometimes when I connect the HTC a balloon pops up from the SystemTray displaying USB error messages something like driver not found (will update this when it next happens). Things not to suggest (unless guaranteed to solve my problem!): A fresh install of Windows - can't say that appeals to me in the slightest!! A firewall problem I am 99.9% happy it has nothing to do with that. Neither suggest this link http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/hel...nc/default.mspx As far as I can tell the Microsoft solution to all problems is upgrade to AS4.5 - but that doesn't run with Office2K!!! Although the section on Network Connection Managers looks interesting and wonder whether there is some NDIS related problem. Has anyone else got any bright ideas? Thanks Clive
Guest yrreP Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 0x85020004 Synchronization interrupted. The user ended the connection. Reestablish the connection, and then try to synchronize again. -- - That's a strange error! Have you tried an alternate USB Port?
Guest clive_j Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 Well I have now upgraded to Office 2003 and Activesync 4.5 in the hope that it would solve all my problems - some hope it still doesn't work and has the same symptoms. Given that no one had any ideas before perhaps I could ask people who do have this working OK to send me details of how their's are configured and working. E.g. what happens in Device Manager when the Universal is plugged in, what noises are there and does a new Network Device appear (eg Windows Mobile-based Device #...) if so what drivers are installed?? Does the Windows Mobile Device appear in Network Connections because I think it should but mine doesn't. It really seems to me that the problem is something like having the wrong USB/device drivers loaded. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Clive
