Vista drops WM music sync

Hey all,

My 2125 doesn't seem to want to stay connected to Vista (Business Edition) It will stay connected long enough to sync but not long enough to transfer files or sync music. I've reinstalled WMDC several times to no avail. I even bought a new mini Sd thinking it had gone bad. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using a USB hub or firewall at all?

Sorry for the delay in response....No to the USB hub, yes to the firewall. I turned off the firewall, but still had the same issue. It will stay connected for approx. 2 mins of transfer before disconnecting completely from the desktop.

I've also run through the MS troubleshooting and done extensive searches of the newsgroups. Still no luck ;)

Hmm, this sounds a little pedantic but have you tried the other USB ports on your computer?

/looks up what "pedantic" means..ok tried it out on several different usb inputs with no luck. I'm still getting:

The could not be copied. The device has either stopped responding or has be disconnected. (Skip) (Skip All) (Cancel)

Any other pedantic thoughts? ;)

I have to admit this has me stumped :/ Last hope, which firewall were you using, the Windows one or a third party one?

MS firewall, which I've already turned off. Oh well back to using the usb drive ;). Thanks for the help btw.

I decided to re-install WMDC and noticed an issue with the driver software installation...it hangs on this window

Having the same problem on my M600 (seems to be specific to writing to the sd card).

From some posts I read about a month ago, seems to be related to a USB driver, and people were suggesting that you can change a setting on the device to switch the USB to serial, which in turn slows the transfer down. Try wifi / BT or IR your files?

Unfortunately I cant now find the sites I was browsing. I'm using a card reader to transfer my data (faster anyway), but I'm sure I will come back to this problem, (cos I dont like not knowing!!).

I will post back if I find the solution.
