Hey people,

I just after some advise really. What I need to know is what windows phone (smartphone or ppc) has the best camera. See I'm after a new phone for my wife as she is unhappy with her (brand new) Sony Ericsson M600i and wants something with a good camera and one that will run most apps that I use (so it has to be windows mobile). Now I remember seeing a 5megapixel camera phone running windows on ebay but I can't find one on there now.

Also what are these ones on ebay from Korea and China like? Has anyone bought one? What's the build quality like? etc

Features that would be needed (ideally)

Windows mobile

good build quality

good camera

3G

Thanks for the help ;)

The Nokia N95 will have a 5MP camera and also have Windows Mobile software. Not released until 2nd qtr of 2007 though.

Wait until the summer and get an HTC Kaiser. 2.8mp camera, slidable/tiltable keyboard, Windows Mobile 6, 3G, GPS, USB2. What more could you ask. ;)

Sounds ideal! I have the SPV M3100 though and she says it's a bit big so I'm guessing a smaller phone would be best. Maybe a smartphone rather than a PPC one. I wish they would just do one with a decent camera. If the Nokia N95 is windows run then thats the one, if not then I guess I still have to wait :D

I wouldnt trust any dodgy OEM models from eBay. Best bet is the Kaiser as mentioned above. You could also look into the Vox or Wings, lots smaller but you only get an *ok* camera. Check out the Vox review in the Reviews forum! ;)

Kaiser is smaller than the Vario II...

In general, most recent and forthcoming Pocket PC's are roughly the size of the M3100 (albeit thinner) give or take a few mm so if you want significantly smaller and Windows - you're looking at Smartphone only

Unfortunately 'Smartphone' and 'good camera' are not words you often find together. Pick of the bunch is the Orange SPV E650 aka HTC Vox, with a 1.9MP camera.

So your choices come down to:

Phone with best camera: N95 (5MP)

Windows phone with best camera: HTC P4550/Kaiser (2.9MP)

Small windows phone with best camera: Orange SPV E650

Obviously where you compromise is up to you. As has already been said, forget about the Koreon OEM phones, they're generally buggy as hell with little to no support available.

Note to self: Stop recommending that people wait for the Kaiser to be released. it's pretty clear that everyone's waiting for it, so even if it arrives on the shelves in June or July it'll sell out in about 2 hours. Must start telling everyone how crap it's going to be, otherwise I'll never get hold of one myself. ;) :D

Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, not around my eyes, look into my eyes. You're under.

The HTC Kaiser is vapourware, it doesn't exist and never will. Anything you see or read about it is simply a figment of your imagination.

One, two, three, you're wide awake!

;)
