Guest Shaunfarris Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Click here and sign the Petition Come on everyone sign the Petition and see if we can get Orange to change their views, and if we can't, well at least we might highlight the problem to new users and be able to encourage them not to join Orange in the first place.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 It'll never work unfortunately. Check out http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=94441. I've talked to Orange at length about this... P

I've talked to Orange at length about this... P Probably not, but its got to be worth a try, besides when you started this original thread Web'N'Walk wasnt an option, nor were 3G phones and the mobile internet access that comes with them. Everything these days is aimed at mobile use, wether it be footy scores, Big Brother on your phone..........it all requires a decent data package.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Either way, I talked to Orange about this literally about a week ago ;) P
Guest chucky.egg Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 If you want to demonstrate the strength of your feeling on this, why not leave Orange and join T-Mobile?
Guest jimbouk Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I love my Orange World Unlimited from Orange - 1gb of 3g data for £8 inc VAT per month...
Guest Shaunfarris Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 If you want to demonstrate the strength of your feeling on this, why not leave Orange and join T-Mobile? Already in process, i've got 2 contracts with Orange, 1 ends in 7months the other in 6months, i've already cancell all addons on both accounts, just waiting for my next bill to confirm my minimum monthly bill before I head off to T-Mobile, for 2 new Web'N'Walk contracts, then I shall sell the shiny new phones T give me on ebay to payoff Orange.
Guest Shaunfarris Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Either way, I talked to Orange about this literally about a week ago ;) P So, what was Oranges response? i would imagine if its anything like the normall response its, yep we cant match T-Mobile (read this as we are too up ourselves to remotely listen to anything a snivelling customer might wan't), then the 'we will be introducing something in the coming few months because we know about this problem' (in other words yea yea what ever leave if you want) Their whole attitude comes across as we are french we are the best f*** all you customers we don't need you especially you english.

Wow... Orange must have murdered your dog or something. I know you hate the fact you signed up for long contracts with Orange when really you should have gone with T Mobile originally - but hey... its up to the company to decide its pricing and marketing strategy! If they dont want to focus on giving cheap data on low-medium spending voice clients, thats their choice.
Guest Shaunfarris Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I love my Orange World Unlimited from Orange - 1gb of 3g data for £8 inc VAT per month... Exactly sums them up completely, they do have the exact plan that everyone wants, but refuse to give it to people, unless of course the day you phone up you happen to get through to someone thats just been given the best news they could possibly ever receive and they are in such a good mood that they agree to you haveing it, otherwise your out of luck, doesnt matter what price plan or 'animal' you are on, doesnt matter how much you spend, doesnt even matter if you are a new customer or a loyal long term customer, it is totally dependant on the time, the day, the person, which way the winds blowing, etc etc etc.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Ridiculous isn't it... I and a whole bunch of MoDaCo readers would [probably] still be with Orange if they publicised that tariff as a competitor to WnW. P
Guest mfvx5jb1 Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 Out of contract today with T-Mo and have been taking myself around the mobile shops in Manchester over my lunch to see what is on offer. The orange shop was by far the quietest of any of them and although the assistant showed me his shiny new N95 he did almost cry when i said all well and good but how much is the data on that thing gonna cost you! Think i will be upgrading on T-Mo but can't decide whether the N95 is worth ending an affair with Windows phones going back to November 2002 and the original SPV? Hmmmmm JB
Guest jimbouk Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 As I said, if O have actually worked out that they earn more from occasional data users paying per mb than high bandwidth users paying a set fee, then well done them. It is also worth remembering that data users constitute a very low proportion of customers and income for a mobile phone network. I do find some of the Orange knocking on here amazing. If you rang up Audi and said I want a 330i, they would say I am sorry we can only sell you the A4 or the S4.

Guest chucky.egg Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 But Audi could say "we can sell you the A4, with the same performance as the 330i, and at a very similar price", but what Orange do is "We don't sell the 330i, but you can have a Robin Reliant for £10 million?.. no, wait! come back customer!" I'm feeling dizzy after that. Anyway, jimbouk is right on one thing - if you sign the contract you can't really complain about the terms afterwards. Knocking O because somebody else is now cheaper is not reasonable. You should have compared the available deals before you signed, if you didn't it's your own fault.
Guest crazyc Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 I agree that it is entirely Orange's choice if they do not generally want data customers. It is our choice to leave them for someone else. If no one else offers a better package (a great package from T mob but no reception where I live is not a good deal) then we can't really moan. If someone does offer a better deal, then why stay and complain? What has become clear in the last year or so (at least for data users) is that unless you can get the mystical OWU package (and yes, I have got it), or you cannot get reception on T mobile, then Orange are really not the network to be with. Being a loyal customer for a number of years counts for nothing - again this is a double edged sword, we should not get upset with Orange for their pricing decisions, and they cannot complain when customers leave because the deals are not competitive. As has been mentioned, currently data users are a very small minority. I do understand some people's dissapointment with Orange, as I have been a long term customer and always used to get great service etc, but it does seem to have gone down hill. Previously, as long as there was not too much in it, I was happy to stay put, but times change and I no longer feel any brand loyalty to Orange. Pity really. As I said, stayed with Orange as I get almost no T mobile reception at home, and also managed to get the OWU package (but oh was it a struggle). Now I am using my "Black 2.0" M3100 with HSDPA (and its sooo good), I do not think I could sacrifice the data package, even if it meant losing Orange. Hopefully T mobile will improve reception where I live, or some other networks will do a good deal when my time is up.
Guest jimbouk Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 (edited) Black 2.0 M3100 What a coincidence! I really cant complain about Orange though. I get through on 150 quickly and they always seem to be able to help me. And Paul - my analogy may not be that apt - but if I'd bought the Audi but then saw a BMW and decided I preferred that - I would accept a financial hit to change over... And No I wasnt knocking your Audi! Edited April 3, 2007 by jimbouk

Totally agree, however when Orange shows an £8 unlimited package on their website and then sells in to people, but you turn up and say yep I like that i'll buy it from you, you dont expect Orange to turn round and tell you no you cant have it, and despite every possible attempt they still will notsell it, that ends up as blatant discrimination.
