Guest idrisito Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 has any one managed to find a text entry software which will work on the m700. seems orange has taken off the phone pad software which was pretty good ! its impossible to write a text with one hand any more! its putting me off my m700! please help! any one.... ! please....
Guest Neil5459 Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 Tengo and Tengo Thumb both steadfastly refuce to load/open on my M700. I can force a load if I open in SafeMode, following which they may continue to load over a few soft resets, then back to the same problem. I've disabled/removed all the Orange Today stuff, and tried with all Today Items removed, to no avail. Many others seem to have the same problem, and the suspicion is that there are too many processes opening at the same time during a reset to allow Tengo to start, as it needs a lot of resources. There is an international version of PhonePad available if you do a Google- not sure how this fits with HTC's licensing policies, as the M700 is after all an HTC device. I've got this installed and working fine on my M700, even with Mobile Shell, Diary and Tekconnect running after a reset.

Guest idrisito Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 cheers guys i managed to get the thing to work! seems you have to install the SIP tweak and then install the phone pad software! and enable the SIP tweak to make the phonepad the default SIP then soft reset! just check on the xda developers website for more info
Guest Neil5459 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I didn't need SIP tweak for the International PhonePad version!
Guest novicebhoy Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Sorry guys, I`m a total novice at this stuff. You guys all seem to know what you`re talking about. I just got my M700 yesterday. Got the same good package with the car mount and charger. The mount seems fine so far. Really don`t like the position of the stylus, especially when the camera button is right next to it. Much preferred the stylus position on the M600, and can`t think why they thought it would be a good idea to move it to the bottom. Crazy place for a stylus! Anyway, T9, I want it on my M700 too. Can you be more specific about where I can get it from? What is the international version you were talking about? Is it the same as the one on the M600? I`m not a techie, so please be gentle and explain stuff clearly. Soz.
Guest Monolithix (MVP) Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Hi novicebhoy. Have a read of this thread on xda-devs (its a popular site for hacking everything to do with Windows Mobile devices!): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...t=phonepad+m700 Read it all through first! At least the first page ;) Phonepad can be downloaded from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...ight=intellipad To install the cab files simple copy them to your M700 and run them from the phones file explorer. Make sure you follow the instructions in the thread though!
Guest novicebhoy Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 Thanks Monolithix, have downloaded the files now but I have a prob getting either the M600 or 700 to connect to my pc via activesync. Waiting on reply from HTC to see if they can help. I have read through the thread as you advised but, as I said, I`m not a techie so I don`t really understand some of it. I will see how I get on. I`ve been searching through my M600 trying to find phone pad files to transfer to my M700. I don`t know if thats possible but, in my naivety, I would have thought so and this thread led me to beleive I was right. http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry813846 I was looking in the windows folder from file explorer in the programs folder. I found loadsa stuff in there relating to Intellipad but nothing I could use. Anyway, thanks again for your help. Now that I have the stuff from the links you posted I can forget about that. Just need to get my 700 to connect to my pc now! The joys!!
Guest Monolithix (MVP) Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 Unfortunately the licensing of T9 makes the legallity of distributing the cabs a little tricky, which is why we dont provide such files here on the forum and (generally) try to dissuade discussion of the processes involved in doing so. (They're a friendly bunch generally over at xda devs though so i'm sure if you get stuck tehy'll be able to help ;))
Guest idrisito Posted April 9, 2007 Report Posted April 9, 2007 hope you've sorted novicebhoy its not that hard once you read some of the previous posts
Guest novicebhoy Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 hope you've sorted novicebhoy its not that hard once you read some of the previous posts Well, after a few attempts I finally got there! Brilliant! Great to see phone pad up and running again, so much easier to use than the keyboard or any of the other input methods. I see there`s a ROM update available from HTC. Is that likely to cause any probs after having installed Phone Pad or should it just install over the top without any trouble? I must admit I`m pretty happy with this phone, and I got a good deal on it with Orange too. Didn`t fancy a white one at all, so I pushed Orange to give me a black one. I`ve been with them a long time, almost as long as they`ve been around so went on to retentions and pleaded my case that since they actually provide Black M700`s for new business customers, that means they have access to them so give me one or I`ll leave Orange! They couldn`t do it so gave me a better deal on my tarriff. It was a reasonable deal and to turn it down I`d just be `cutting off my nose to spite my face` so I accepted. The phone was out of stock at the time so I had to wait. About two weeks later I got a text from them telling me that the M700 was now back in stock but unfortunately they only had it in black! Wasn`t too sure about the shiny finish at first, I preffered the matt black finish on the M600, but it`s really grown on me and with the brighter screen and faster processor it`s a joy to use. Gonna need to try out satnav at some point but don`t fancy TomTom. Everybody seems to be using it but unless TomTom 6 is a vast improvement on TomTom 5 I just wouldn`t consider it. I`m sure it`s the most popular satnav system on the market but it`s not very good at doin` what it`s supposed to do. TomTom 3 had the best user interface of any I`ve seen but was fairly crap sometimes as a navigation tool. The best features were then stripped from it for TomTom 5 but, as far as I am aware, the same navigation problems remained. Not a very good combination! I`ll most likely have a go with the free trial version available from HTC, just to see what it`s like but I think when it comes to shelling out for one I`ll be getting something else. There`s a few systems out there that seem much better. Thanks for your help everyone.
