Guest yatpeak Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Just interested in what people think. Wyatt
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Er, bearing in mine next to nobody actually HAS a P800 yet, this might be a little bit ahead of itself ;) P (my P800 arriving next week all being well!)
Guest MBoden Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I played a bit with the P800 the other day, it's nice, it's faster and has a bigger screen. The phone is more the 50% bigger than the SPV and 20% heavier and i couldn't get used to using the stylus on a phone
Guest yatpeak Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 It may be a bit early, but I don't think that too many people are actually going to get both the phones, so I don't think it will make much difference, except for those who try them in the shops etc.
Guest Bazz Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Yeah, I'm not gonna vote until I see/play with the P800.
Guest lutzh Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 i've had one - did the every-day-use-competition between p800 and spv. i am still here - guess why.... but if you'll ask this question on a nokia forum or a p800 board - guess what will be the answere there... i love my spv - just got another one for a colleague (not so easy here in germany where there is no orange on the market...). cheers, lutz
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 "]Er, bearing in mine next to nobody actually HAS a P800 yet, this might be a little bit ahead of itself ;) Nobody in the UK, that is - they've been available here in Denmark for a couple of weeks.
Guest cbcox Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Definetely the SPV, when I first saw the P800 in a magazine, I thoght WOW, but it's just too big.
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 My money-no-object choice would be the P800, no doubt about that. The SPV will do for now. If the update solves nowt then I'll either go for the P800 anyway or go back to the trusty SL45...
Guest AsherUK Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Yeah, I liked my SL45 too.. it did everything it was supposed to, but the SPV (even with it's faults) is soooo much better. I wouldn't go back to the SL45, and I wouldn't change my SPV unless something better came along with an MS OS and no certification.
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I have just had a look at the sonyerricsson website - the P800 looks pretty neat, but yeah, its quite large and at 158g, hefty. I'll stick with SPV for now I think...it does everything i need it to.
Guest DJHope Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 My SL45 was definately a quality trusty phone but my spv has definately taken its place, i cant play gameboy games on my sl45! But the sl45 is resposible for me not being able to have a phone without an mp3 player, i love it ;) Also in its day the sl45 was amazing it was one of the first phones to have J2ME (with the dodgy FW43 upgrade to add the i, that is)! DJ Hope
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 Theres no real comparison anyway really, past the phone features theres no real similarity in them. The SPV is a phone with PDA functions (basically: Outlook and email), the P800 is the reverse of this, a PDA with phone features. I'm happy with my SPV (for the next 11 months at least)
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 DJHope: Thing with the SL45 was the sheer quality of the thing. I used mine so heavily and I never had a single problem with it. When I first saw the publicity pics of the SPV I hoped that it'd have the same type of metal casing as the SL45 - quality feel, know what I mean? There's something about the Siemens that's just ace - MP3 player's loads better for starters. I'm still not sure I've done the right thing getting the SPV instead...time (and the update due tomorrow here in DK) will tell....
