Guest bluntsideQtek7070 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Has anyone come up with a program to change the boring/ugly WM5 Shell? ive noticed there is a program for Pocket PC made by SPB and looks Really good!!...so is there one for Smartphones? Im sick of the boring ugly "homescreen" that WM5 is stuck with... can someone make a Style program like StyleXP for PC to change the Icons/Fonts etc... Surely this would be of concern to a fair few ppl as its the First letback i noticed with Smartphones...the O/S Shell Sucks balls....any NEW phone you pick up off the market today ie Sony Ericsson come with Real nice menu animations and icons...and my smartphone looks 2 yrs old...
Guest geoffrey118 Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 MAYBE it is! ;) Mine is anyway.... A totally customizable OS takes up ALOT of space....the normal ROM is 26MB big....imagine what that would be like if it had all that stuff in it. And you CAN change the font of your mobile phone. It is a complicated procedure from the registry...you need to copy the fonts (from PC to mobile device)...then edit some keys in the registry - if you wanna know more ask again - however I will not be held responsible for ANY damages!! :D PS: Windows Vista installation is 10GB big....windows XP is approx. 1GB!! My phone got only 26MB memory and 1GB SDCard.

I've changed it on mine and it was easy and now I like my phone more. INSTRUCTIONS: All you need is a registry editor and any font file (*.ttf ), even from your computer. 1. Choose your favorite font! 2. Transfer it to your smartphone and place it in \Windows\Fonts 3. Open your registry editor 4. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft create a new key by the name FontLink and then in this new key create another one by the name SystemLink 5. In the SystemLink key create a new string with string name : (your fonts name) string value : \windows\Fonts\(the full name of your ttf file, the name of your font) ** 6. Now back to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft. Create there one more key by the name Fontpath and in it a string with string name : Fontpath string value : \windows\Fonts 7. Reboot and enjoy!!!!! ** For example, I've used Georgia. So my string value is: \windows\Fonts\georgia.ttf,Georgia Do not forget the comma! *** For SP2002, the Windows path is under \IPSM\Windows and for SP2003, it is \Storage\Windows, so do the alterations where needed.
