Power Button won't open quick list, or shut down.

Hello,

I have an Audiovox smt5600. My power button works fine to "power UP" my phone, but after it has booted up and I want to access the "Quick List", or "power DOWN" the power button doesn't work. It behaves like the button is disabled. Pressing the power button will not even wake up the screen illumination. It appeared that this problem began after I stupidly took the battery out of the phone without shutting down windows first. I have tried a hard reset and have reinstalled the ROM, and neither fixed the problem. Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this problem?
