Remap Home button

Is there any way to remap the home button to where when you reach the homescreen the button opens another program. The reason I ask is that it is great that it will bring you to the homescreen from any app, but when you are already there it does nothing and seems to be a wasted button. It sounds like something a modification of the registry would fix, but I dont know where to start looking for that. Any thoughts guys?
