How do .jar files work?

Ive got some game files in .jar format and dont know how to make them run. Can this be done on the HTC Wizard? There is no exe to open or click so I figured something must be left out but the same files work on Sony Erikkson k800i and Moto Razr. Any ideas?

To run a .jar file you have to have a java app on your phone which isn't on the wizard. I'm not sure if you can download it and put it on your phone or not, I'll have to check in to that one.

I decided to just go ahead and check on that while I was writing this and found a free one available for PPC at http://www2s.biglobe.ne.jp/~dat/java/proje...m/index_en.html. There were a couple others that I came across but you had to pay for them.

Ok, did another quick check on the IBM version that was said to be only about $6 and apparently it seems to be device specific and there were only versions for about 4 types of phones and the wizard wasn't one of them so I think the free one I just listed above might be the only way to go. It might be worth a try anyway. If you try it out and it works, let me know because I have a ton of java games that I had for my smartphone.
