I read in the metro newspaper on the train this morning that the network 3 are soon to be offering flat rate internet access on your phone for £5 a month. With Tmob offering WnW and this deal from 3 do you think it will force O to change their data plan structures?? ;)

Will try and dig out a link from their website but it was definately in the newspaper...

They did have access to OWU (Orange World Unlimited) at £8/month but it was a lottery as to who got it (the lucky few that did are very happy with it) but it seams to have dissapeared off their system. Some high spenders were allowed to leave and even after begging for it, never got it, other low spenders were offered it. Some people were offered it, rang back to accept it and all knowledge was denied. It was very hit and miss.

I hope orange do offer OWU to all customers but at one point it was on O's system as only available until the end of Sept 2006 (IIRC) and has, I believe now gone completely - unless anyone else knows different?

Mybe it was a limited trial as a precursor to a full rollout or maybe the £10 is different?

Orange seem to be concentrating on business users and Broadband and seem to have lost the plot as far as WM devices is concerned which is a shame as they were the driving force that bought them into mainstream in the first place.

I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't hold your breath and I don't think 3 joining the cheap data access will make the slightest bit of difference.

Its just such a shame when we have all these features that we cannot use because of such high data charges (e.g push e-mail to name one). I find it absolutely shameful that O can charge £1 a megabyte. Flat rate access aside if they made their current bundles realistic (i.e. £5 = 50mb) then this would be a vast improvement.

Why do you think so many people have defected to T-Mob? W'n'W allows you to use your phone as it should be used.

Nearly.. X-series silver and gold have been available.. but up until now you needed an x-series phone.. which until last month was only the N73.

Now you can have the data on any 3 phone (as long as it can do web stuff obviously) and have a £15+pm contract

Theres only one problem with that in my area: I would need an arial the size of big ben to get even the slightest reception!! I know a lot of people say it - but tmobs coverage really is pants! ;)

I take it this is an announcement in advance of the product launch?

I can't see any mention of a £5 offer on 3s site, only the usual Xseries + E65 bundle.

Edit: Ah! you have to click on "already with 3" to get the addons.
