Guest exoogle Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Hi guys, My phone's O2 XPhone IIm running Windows Mobile 2003 SE.. I could install or uninstall programs just now. But i'm not sure what went wrong. Is there any registry fix etc. to fix it? When installing a cab file, select storage card or phone produces the same error "Unable to install ..." in this location. I also can't uninstall any program. and its not related to the cab file as i've tried reinstalling those that could previously. Is there a registry corrupt? Can anyone help pls? Thanks..
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I don't think it's a registry problem, sounds more like a failed installation. Have a look in Storage \Windows \AppMgr \Install and clear out anything in there. There may be fragments from something in there and this is what's blocking any subsequent installation.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. There's nothing in Install, and I removed that folder too. However, when i try reinstalling again, it says "Unable to install"..."at this location". I've tried uninstalling existing programs that have their AppMgr folder, but it says unale to remove... Strange ;) I don't want to hard reset my phone. mmm

Guest awarner (MVP) Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 A hard reset would wipe your contacts but you should use Outlook to backup your contacts and calender etc on your PC. With the installing issue do you have enough storage space left on your device?

With the installing issue do you have enough storage space left on your device? Hi thanks ;) Is it possible to backup my gprs settings for internet browsing and mms too? Hmm..i have about 9.75 mb on the phone and 440 mb free on my micro sd card..so space shouldn't be a problem... How does hard reset actually work? Is it liken to a format plus reinstall of the os? Like a computer?
