Activesync -> Explore -> no thumbnails ???

Well, the title kinda says it, but if I navigate to my phone's storage card (\Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures) via ActiveSync -> Explore -> Storage Card -> My documents -> My pictures (where all my photos are kept), I do not see thumbnails in that folder. I see square outlines with generic icons in them (instead of the thumbnail) and a numeric filename.

Thumbnails are great for navigating thru photos, so I'd really like to see them.

Q1) How can I enable thumbnails ??

Q2) How can I directly open the photo's in a photo editing software (instead copying over, edit, copy back) ??

I've tried WM5torage, but at USB 1.0 it's REALLY slow on a large collection.

Thanks !

Thats always bugged me too and I never found a solution.

Vista allows you to double click a pic directly while browsing your mobile device and it opens up in your default pic viewer but still no thumbnails.

1. There is no 'thumbnail view' in ActiveSync as far as I can recall.

2. You cannot open files from within ActiveSync as you'll end up with the 'Properties' window.

There is however a plugin for Total Commander which will allow you to access Smartphone devices connected to PC. Plugin name is 'wincefs'

With wincefs plugin, you can directly click on a file eliminating the conventional copy-paste from phone to PC method. Still no thumbnail view though. On example below, I clicked 'IMG_001.jpg' at \Storage\My Documents then Total Commander automatically transfers the said file to my PC's Temp DIR then opens it up with the associated XP program; the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

With such feature, you can have your favorite image editing software open the graphic file ready for editing. ;)
