Guest thewitney Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Hi, I've just recieved a new M3100 from Orange insurance and put in my storage card I was using in my previous M3100. Some of the applications can now only be opened from the storage card with no icon appearing on the programs tab from the start menu. I know this isn't the biggest problem in the world! but it's a pain having to go into the memory card all the time. Does anyone know how to get an icon for the programs I'm using on the programs page with all the other programs that came as default on the phone? Many thanks, Mike
Guest xeno1 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 There are 2 things you can do to fix that. The hard way to do it is to reinstall all of the programs that you have and that will put the icons in the start menu programs folder. The easy way is to sync with your computer then navigate to the storage card--> program files folder or wherever the program is installed on the card, then find the .exe file, right click on it, then choose create shortcut. After you create your shortcut it will appear in that folder, right click on it and choose cut then navigate to the windows--> start menu--> programs folder and right click and paste the shortcut in the folder and you're done. There's one other even easier way to do it and that is to install either claunch or ilaunch ( I use claunch personally and it's free, not sure if ilaunch is free or not) and it will allow you to add links to your programs right on the today screen and all you have to do is tell it what file you want a link for and where it is. hope this helps.
Guest psionandy Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 And of course while you told it to put the programs on the card.. the Registry and some Dlls are stored in the main memory.. so Some things may be a bit odd, until you do a re-install again.
Guest Neil5459 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Any program which needed a registry key previously on the storage card will need to have the key re-entered because the registry entry in main memory will have been lost. Another option for reinstalling is to set up the A/S partnership, then go to Options/ Add/Remove from where you can tick the apps you want to reinstall. Best to do it one at a time in case any soft resets are needed.
