Guest Alastair French Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I have recently purchased a Vario II with Copilot and am now looking for a car kit to use with it. I have almost ruled out using a bluetooth kit as I want the copilot audio to be routed via the car speakers (or an additional speaker). My choice so far appears to be between the THB Bury System 8 DSP and the Carcomm DSP lines but am not sure which to go for. The Carcomm appears to use a voice sensing approach to mute the radio audio for about 15 seconds after the audio has finished, which I think may be too long but won't be able to tell until I use it. There is no info on this for the THB kits. There seems to be more recommendations for the THB kits but as I only have one phone I think it may be over kill. I am also concerned as to how easy it is to remove the phone from the cradle (not the cradle from the kit) in the THB kit as it appears to be completely enclosed by the cradle. Does any one have any experience of the above kits or any other recommendations. Thanks Alastair
Guest beardmutant Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I have a THB BURY car kit for my Vario II. I have no problems getting it the phone in and out of the cradle. Just need to squeeze the two buttons on the side and it pops out. The audio quality is good as well. The only problem I have is the bluetooth on the phone randomly goes on and off during the day. As the carkit uses bluetooth to communicate with the phone, you can sometimes ring someone and then realise the bluetooth's not on. I think that this is a problem with the phone itself and not the carkit. People on other forums have had problems with this phone and bluetooth on all sorts of car kits and headsets. I hope this of help

Thanks, that fits with the reply from THB I had last night, it just does not look like it from the photos The only problem I have is the bluetooth on the phone randomly goes on and off during the day. I was under the impression that the THB kits used the USB / audio connector for the audio, not the BT. This is one of the reasons for getting it, I want the satnav audio over the speakers as well as the phone audio. All the info I have found suggests that anything normally from the rear speaker (i.e. satnav) is not presented on the BT audio signal. Am I wrong? Alastair
Guest beardmutant Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 The audio for the back speaker i.e sat nav, media player etc doesn't come out of the speakers using bluetooth. I think you can get apps to send this audio over BT. I would have liked it to have a usb audio connector as well but unfortuately it doesn't. The plus point is you can use the phone without using the cradle and other phones can connect to it as well. The down side is that with the vario's dodgey bluetooth, sometime you can ring someone before realising the phone isn't syncd!!!
