Guest Shoe1971 Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 For some strange reason, my Herems (MDA Vario II) is no longer being recognised by Windows XP as a USB Device. I have tried reinstalling Active Sync but to no avail on a number of different XP PC's. It's proving to be a bit of a pain and the Windows XP troubleshooting is just frankly useless. Anyone else experiencing this?
Guest jimbouk Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Have you tried unticking the box to "enable advanced networking" in USB to PC, in settings, connections?
Guest Shoe1971 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Brilliant, that seems to have fixed it - cheers!
Guest Tony W Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Have you tried unticking the box to "enable advanced networking" in USB to PC, in settings, connections? Jim, I had been having the same problem intermittantly and have made this change. Does unticking this box have any adverse effect? Will this limit use of the device as an external modem? Thanks for the tip - I hope it works and will give it a couple of days before reporting back here. Regards Tony

Regards Tony  It worked and my Activesync connection is now as stable as a rock - no issues at all. I will check the modem connection soon but not yet checked. Tony
Guest budda Posted May 3, 2007 Report Posted May 3, 2007 (edited) For some strange reason, my Herems (MDA Vario II) is no longer being recognised by Windows XP as a USB Device. Anyone else experiencing this? Yup, i'm having it and i followed the tip in the replies above about disabling the advanced network. i then plugged in my Vario II (WM5) to my Win XP pc and it just carried on being dumb and not being recognised still. Any other ideas? :-( Currently I have to turn the phone off to charge it by the computers USB - otherwise it just wont charge. EDIT: I rebooted the phone and it seems to be playing ball now. Charges when phone is on, and the ActiveSync connection work. Woo. Edited May 3, 2007 by budda
