Guest sbussinger Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I'm headed on vacation to France in a month and I'd love to use my StrTrk smartphone while I'm there in conjunction with one of the mapping services like Windows Live Search or Google Mobile Maps (just like I do while I'm at home in the US). But those services require an active GPRS data service to function (i.e. you can't download a map and use it locally). So does anyone have any advice on the best/cheapest way to get GPRS data service while I'm in France? Some additional info: I'll only be there for a couple of weeks and won't likely be back any time soon. You can assume the phone has been SIM unlocked. I have an unlimited data service here in the states but I assume I'll have to pay a metered charge while roaming -- does anyone have a good idea of how much data I'll really need for mapping while I'm over there? Or, does anyone have a suggestion for reasonably priced software for smartphones that allows me to download maps and doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I did quite a bit of research last night and it doesn't appear that there are many GPS mapping programs that are WM5 smartphone compatible -- any suggestions? Thanks!
