Guest seedy Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Never a nice thought some one is flicking thru your contacts and private photos.
Guest Neil5459 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 The mobile operators can't lock your actual device, but they can block phone usage if reported stolen, based on the IMEI number (so even if the 'new owner' does a hard reset, it remains blocked) To protect your personal info on the device, you need to activate the PIN code security functions for the devcie, or install some more robust 3rd party security software (like PocketSecure) WM6 is supposed to have the ability for remote 'wiping' of a stolen device, but I don't think anyone's implemented that yet.
Guest xeno1 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 (edited) I ran across a program a couple of days ago that did exactly what you were looking for. It will lock your phone if a new sim is added or you can lock it remotely. If a new sim is added it will also send back an sms giving you all the details from the new sim so you can track down the thief. Apparently you can remotely do a hard reset and wipe your SD card too.It says it works with 2003, WM5 and WM6. Here's the link to it, it's called remotePROTECT 1.5. http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=21610 Edited April 23, 2007 by xeno1
