Guest Malenibo Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Can anyone give me any suggestions to try. My M3100 has been working and running TT 6 with my bluetooth gps device for several months. Suddenly now it will not connect to the GPS device. I have deleted the partnership and re installed it. The phone finds the GPS device and says it wants to establish a connection and asks for a passkey. I input the passkey, it accepts and then asks which service I want to use. I put a tick in the serial box and tap next. At this point the phone stops communicating with the device as evidenced by the bluetooth light on the device stopping flashing and going steady on. The icon in the bluetooth manager shows the device but there is a question mark in the centre. I have tried anoth make of GPS device and the same happens so I have to conclude it is my phone that is not working properly. Any ideas?

Have you set up the COM port? i know it sounds stupid but i am just covering the basics. Once the GPS unit is paired you get the option to select serial port, tick that box and then select Save Go back into COM port, select new outgoing port, this will then show the GPS unit, highlight it and then select port 4, this should get everything working correctly. HTH

HTH I believe its com 9 on the 3100. I certainly have to use 9 on mine, no others available.
Guest Malenibo Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Thanks for the info. I tried changing the com ports as suggested no luck. The GPS device and the phone discover each other as the bluetooth LED flashes, and as I said the GPS device name appears. Tapping Next allows me to put a tick in the serial port box and SAVE. it is then the GPS and Phone stop communicating with each other and the bluetooth LED on the GPS unit goes steady the GPS unit is BTGPS74R and there is a question mark icon just by the name in the devices list. I also have a bluetooth headset paired and this is working fine. It seems most strange as everything was working well up until Sunday. Do you think a hard reset would help solve the problem. Have just tried the GPS unit with my PDA it connects ok but when I look in active connections I only see an outgoing connection for BTGPS74R and SPP. nothing in the incomming conections and the TT6 program cannot find the GPS unit so I am wondering if it has gone faulty although I did try another bluetooth unit with the same result on the phone setup. Any other thoughts please
