Guest StyX_TheRiver Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Hi Guys and Gals I recently recieved a shiny new v1605, 18 month contract with Vodafone. I am running a windows Xp, TinyXp to more exact, laptop and am having issues get sctive sync to work. It sees the phone, but doesn't connect. I have tried 4.2 and 4.5. I have tried several installation style, no cable connected/cable connected/mobile connect etc and no joy. I have run the self diagnostic test and that does work. So basically i have a fone which i can't connect to my pc, even thru bluetooth. Also while i am asking for help. Is there a way to disable the GPRS so it is the default internet connection? Without using activesync And final request/question can i import a outlook 2002 address book without activesync? Cheers for all and any assistance StyX
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Welcome to the forum ;) I can't answer the other 2 questions but the first is usually solved by allowing ActiveSync connections in your firewall's settings.
Guest pd.ryder Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Hi StyX, and welcome. I've had problems with initial AS connections, when everything's installed, permitted (Firewall normally configures itself)) and connected WinXP keeps insisting on trying to make a new LAN connection instead of defaulting to AS. I don't know why or how, but eventually its always righted itself if I just keep re-connecting the miniUSB to the device after a restart of both machines. All of a sudden, it just 'worked' and after its done it once, there was no further problem. Good luck. ;)
Guest StyX_TheRiver Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Cheers. I disabled my firewall, for the install. I managed to find that as a comman problem, still didn't help. I will try as suggested and keep trying. I to get the tries to aquire network address and then fails. I manage to sort the other issues. I didn't have the beam accept all enabled once i did i could communicate via bluetooth. Initial was doing it via my old handset, then i stopped being a bit silly and sent it directly from pc to mob. Also managed to sort out the the contact issue once i sorted out the bluetooth. In fact once i had sorted out the bluetooth issue i could send lots of cab files and thus spend another 4 hours playing with my phone. Doh. Anyone know of profile managering app? Many Thanks StyX
