Guest Looby Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 (edited) There's much to like about the Vox/E650. The only thing that gets to me is after using GPRS/Edge the icon connected to the signal it won't disconnect. On the SP5 you could tap the end_call button and the C600 did it by itself. Any ideas? ;) Edited April 25, 2007 by Looby

Guest Looby Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Many thanks, it's a long way round but it works a treat. Top man. E650 gets better by the minute. ;) :D
Guest saqmaster Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 I too found this... in some ways it's better, nothing more annoying than accidentally hitting the end_call buttons mid-way through an IM!!
Guest Looby Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 It's back! After finding the way to disconnect using Comm Manager as advised by Simon Desser the icon now switches on by itself and the only way to stop it is to create an active connection. The reason I think is where my house is the signal toggles between EDGE and GPRS [ I can watch it change] and this triggers the icon to show and remain next to the sgnal bar. I've got a feeling I may be stuck with this <_< <_
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Still don't get why you'd want to ;) P
Guest DW99 Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 If you leave GPRS enabled, when you turn on the WLAN, would network traffic use the WLAN in preference to GPRS?
Guest Looby Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 I think it should, but you have highlighted what I feel. As regards to Paul's comment above the reason you don't want the icon there is that when you are using WLAN you can see instantly if the connection drops and switches to GPRS incurring charges (in Europe). Having said that mine has settled down and does not switch on by itself anymore. I think the E650 is fantastic and the more I use it the more I like it.
Guest cldchc Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 to resolve this problem: Go to: HKLM-->Comm-->ConnMgr-->Planner-->Settings-->SuspendResume and delete ~GPRS! value. This value was couseing phone to keep active gprs connection by any meanings. When you delete it, red button will close the connection again
Guest oberkeller Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 I had another problem with GPRS that is solved The problem is that when GPRS is active the phone sometimes can not receive calls at all. Actyally makes the phone useless This is from what I can tell a known problem on vox if the operator uses GPRS class B And they are supposed to upgrade the radio software to solve this. However I solved this temporarily by the followin reigstry edit: HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\ DWORD CacheTime 60 - Timeout in seconds Set String SuspendResume To GPRS_bye_if_device_off this will Timeout after CacheTime I have written some more aout this in XDA developers, (I hope it is ok to link to other site, otherwise I apologise and will remove this) I hope this could help some more with this at least until HtC comes up with a proper fix

After you finish checking messages or surfing the Net, press "end Call" twice and the GPRS will disconnect. ***disclaimer - do this at your own risk***
