I really hate my SPV M3100...and here is why....the keyboard is faulty which leads to buttons not working :P (i know, i could send it back, but i dont like the thought of attempting to back everything up) lol...it doesnt close flush either :D and as for phone calls and texts...the phone seems to have slight mood swings which leads to it choosing when it wants to send/recieve calls or text...which today was the final straw because i realllly needed this text to be sent to my gf after a slight dissagreement the night before...but she didnt get it, which resulted in a biggg argument (I wont go in-depth here, but if anyone cares, we are both ok now ) lol anyHOO, back to the problems....im having to also soft-reset the phone around 3 times a day because the phone just...well...stops quite frankly!

does anyone else have these problems?!?!

and what do you peeps think the possibilities are of me shouting at orange (about the failure to send/recieve calls and texts from time to time) and them re-starting my contract and giving me another phone (i do pay my Orange Care insurance if that counts for anything)(and pay somting around £45 a month)(and last month went over my 500 mins by 400! which calculates to 900 mins incase you cant count!! lol)...preferably ANYTHING but a M3100 lol (sorry)

Thanks, Mark x

If your phone keeps freezing and needs soft resetting regularly it sounds like the known problem with the HTC Hermes (T-Mobile MDA Vario II, Orange SPV M3100)...there is a thread about it Here but up until now I thought this only happened on the T-Mobile network.

Mark,

Not wanting to help Orange out here (I dislike them A LOT), but if you know your phone is faulty and you do nothing about it then what can you expect? There is no such thing as 100% build quality on anything (including Aston Martins, Bentleys and Space Shuttles!).

On a more positive note, once your phone's hardware issue is fixed I would recommend installing WM6 as I've found it to be incredibly stable.

i know i know! but when the closest orange shop to me is around 30 - 35 miles away, and they need to talk to my dad as the contract is in his name as it was easier for them to do the free broadband thing as that was already in his name...and he rarely ever goes to where the orange shop is...then it is kind of hard to get it sorted out....and to be honest, the faults had only been happening a few weeks! but before that i was extreemly pleased with the build quality of the phone! its one of the best built phones i have ever had!

Mark

I had been looking at the WM6 update also! if i decide to keep the phone i think it might just happen  hehe no saying where from though :P

Whats the distance to the shop got to do with it? You dont visit O shops to discuss replacements for faulty handsets, you ring 150 and as long as they agree, you get a new handset couriered to you within 24 hours.

The latest WM5 ROM update on O's business site is very good. AKU3.3. I broke a hermes last week (it got soaked in a rainstorm) and various buttons stopped working so I flashed the WM5 update onto it (to replace the non o rom I had) and it seemed fine.

Or as you already seem to know about the WM6 roms, have some fun with one o those. I recommend Black 3.0 with radio 1.40.
