Guest PaulF Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Hi all Anyone out there with a WM6 device using Windows Live? I'm looking to find out what benefits I can get from upgrading to a device with WM6 - mainly with regards to increasing the compatibility with Windows Live services: Windows Live Mail Can you send receive mail using your Windows Live Mail account using POP3 (i.e. using the messaging client rather than browsing to the website) Windows Live Messenger Is there a mobile client for Live Messenger (an actual client application, not the website you can browse to (http://mobile.live.com/wlm) Windows Live Contacts Is it possible to synchronise your Live Contacts list with the Contacts on the phone? Windows Live Calendar Is it possible to synchronise your Live Calendar with the Calendar onthe phone? I know some of these functions can be acheived by paying for a windows live / office live subscription, then getting the Outlook Connector, and then synchronsiing on the PC via Outlook - but I'm trying to avoid having to do this If anyone is using Windows Live and WM6 I'd be grateful if you could let me know if / how well any of the above functions work... Thanks very much PaulF
Guest argh Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Windows Live Mail Can you send receive mail using your Windows Live Mail account using POP3 (i.e. using the messaging client rather than browsing to the website) Yes (not POP3, but it does use the Pocket Outlook interface). Windows Live Messenger Is there a mobile client for Live Messenger (an actual client application, not the website you can browse to (http://mobile.live.com/wlm) Yes. Windows Live Contacts Is it possible to synchronise your Live Contacts list with the Contacts on the phone? Yes. Windows Live Calendar Is it possible to synchronise your Live Calendar with the Calendar onthe phone? Don't think so. I don't use Live Calendar but I haven't seen any options for this. These options are also available if you are on the WM5 Live beta (hopefully it will also be a free release on WM5 later).
Guest jimbouk Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Not only can you access the emails but whilst signed in they are "pushed" to the phone!!!
Guest PaulF Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Thanks for the answers guys - very helpful... re: the WM5 Live Beta - I was on this for a little while but then I thought it ended? (it certainly stopped working) - I checked the MS site recently and all I could get on there was the latest Messenger beta (which is just a website - it works, but not like having a local client). I'll keep my eyes open for that being released 'properly' on WM5 - or until I can't resist the draw of a shiny new WM6 device  Thanks again
Guest llch_81 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 the ones that come with WM6 is no longer in beta i.e. full release version.
Guest ljames28 Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 The beta stopped working when they were doing an upgrade. The beta is still happening, therefore the version in WM6 cant be final as there is still a beta!
