Guest cbcox Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 I thought I'd schedule Orange backup to run at 2am every day, BUT on getting up at 8am the next day, the GPRS connection it was still connected. Tried it again the next night, the same problem, so it doesn't appear to "hang-up" properly. Anyone else had this problem?
Guest cepheus1 Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 S*@t, you'll be in for a "outside fair usage" bill :!:
Guest cepheus1 Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 You've also got an error in your web site signature! (An extra www!)
Guest Bazz Posted January 26, 2003 Report Posted January 26, 2003 First of all just thought I'd warn you that that might be pricey after the "unlimited" offer ends. Do you have MS Messenger set to use any available connection? If so it might be that that's keeping the GPRS connection open. Also have you checked your setting in Settings->Data Connections->Menu->Options->Idle disconnect after? If set to none the connection is never hung up automatically. I don't think apps need to close the connection - the phone does it if nothing's using it. Also having the GPRS connection open doesn't cost you anything (except A LOT of battery power) providing you are not transferring data. Barry
