Guest danrough Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Hi all, This is a bit of a cross posting, I didn't want to hijack somebody elses' post though so please bear with me. I got an SPV E650 the other day and am very impressed with the phone, on the most part. I just can't get the WiFi to work. Whilst it connects to my network at home when I try and browse pages I get "Page cannot be displayed - Check the name and try again". I've tried to solve this myself by taking all of the security off of my network and I've also pinged the domain names of various web sites and then tried to accesss them by IP address on the phone to ensure that it is not a DNS problem. I've also tried usinig a static IP address and inputting the default gateway. Now I've just run out of ideas as to what to do. I've spoken to Orange technical support and they have suggested to me that I should run my wireless network at home in single mode. My router is a Linksys WAG300N and I can't put it in to single mode - is there anybody out there that is currently using an E650 successfully on a Mixed mode network? Has anybody else suffered similar issues and managed to solve the problem? This is a superb phone and I am keen to get it working with my WiFi network at home. Thanks, Dan.

No idea if you resolved this, but I had the exact same problem and this could help anyone else searching. The simple solution for me was that I hadn't added the device's MAC address to the list of 'trusted PCs' on my NETGEAR DG824M. Once I either switched off the 'Trusted PCs only' or added the phone's MAC address to the list it worked fine. It's a bit misleading as the Router had let the device connect but wouldn't let it end/receive any data - I wouldn't have expected it to even let an untrusted device connect. Anyway - the answer from some other posts as well seems to be to play with the security settings on your router 'til it works! Good luck it's worth the time spent. Cheers, R
Guest mrpants Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I fixed mine and posted the work around/solution in one of my own posts (the issue seems to have been sky's firmware on my netgear router!!!): "success at last...I've just flashed my old dlink g604t with the Oz g624t firmware, altered the settings...managed to extract my sky username and password from the poxy netgear router (I'm sure it's not really poxy...it's just sky's awful firmware) and I'm browsing via wifi on my lovely spv e650. Thanks to all who offered help and suggestions...and to Samsonite - I may now try reflashing the sky netgear router to the non sky firmware...I fail to see why I shouldn't be able to use any wifi device via sky's router because of their restrictive firmware and t&c's. " Good call Mr Pants (You know who i am :-) - lets just say loud howard!!!! ) For anyone else who's not in the same boat as Mr Pants... Check your DHCP settings on your router, the biggest problem is that your router doesn't send your handset either the correct DNS settings or it's giving the device the wrong gateway address...
