Guest Belgian Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 Hi, I'm new here. After my brother-in-law bought a mpx220 and I saw how good the device is, I wanted one as well.. now I've got it (joy for me  ) but here's the horror : On my brother-in-law's comp, when we put in the cable, the phone gets recognized. When I try the same thing at home at my desktop and laptop, I get no reaction at all..and I mean that it doesn't even gets recognized or anything..just..nothing at all. I've read a lot on this forum but I don't seem to find a solution on here. I tried with the version of activesync that was on the disk I got with the phone, I even tried with the latest one I found on the net..nothing happens at all. I'm getting a bit stressed and hope someone can help me out cause I'm out of ideas. Thx for your time in advance. Belgian

Belgian Hi So y mean y use the same phone in office and in your home but in home it just didn't work? 1.Maybe the computer in your home has a bad usb port 2.or your phone's usb port is not working 3.Are y sure the cable is ok? good luck
Guest Belgian Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Laptop and desktop are staged at home. Funny thing is, USB connection of the phone works when tried on my brother-in-law's computer..so there I can use activesync. Without doing anything to the phone, I tried it at home and on both computers..no deal.. maybe my router has got something to do with it? Cause both, desktop and laptop are connecting to the internet through router connection. Though I find it strange that when the phone is out and I try to connect it, I get no "new hardware found" message on the desktop, but on the laptop I get : "Unknown device not working properly"

A common problem connecting to Activesync can be a firewall installed (ZoneAlarm etc) which can stop Activesync from connecting. If you have one installed, try shutting down the firewall before connecting your MPX220 to the USB port. Good luck!

But must be something computerrelated I guess cause phone works on another pc.

Another thing to check is to check that Activesync is set to allow USB connections - from Activesync - File > Connection Settings > Allow USB Connections
Guest Belgian Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 Another thing to check is to check that Activesync is set to allow USB connections - from Activesync - File > Connection Settings > Allow USB Connections That setting was ok in activesync. Tried looking at what could me wrong in device management.. got warning that there is an "unknown device" and when I try to troubleshoot it just says that there are no drivers installed for that device (mobile phone in this case)

Hi,which OS do y use in your home? if it's win98,then i guess y need to install the usb driver first(sorry,i am not sure) BTW,i donn't think it's caused by your router, anyway, make sure that your USB port is working good luck

I just don't seem to get it right. Got the smartfon.inf file now but don't know where to put it :s
Guest Belgian Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 So I right clicked on the smartfon.inf file and let it install.. still no reaction of the computer. Even after putting phone off and taking out the battery. <_
Guest Belgian Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 Still cable not working. But managed to get it working with a bluetooth usb dongle
Guest asimj Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I can synch my PC and phone using the USB connection, or the Infrared connection or bluetooth. activesynch version 4.5.0 build 5096. My conection settings have everything checked. Thsi computer is connected to has "Automatic" in it. Works very nice. The trick to get infrared synch is to align the IR ports and let the computer find the phone. Then I clcik on "get connected" on the activesynch application. Good Luck.
Guest Belgian Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 Well finally got it to work. Seemed to be a problem with the firmware. Now running 1.49 and works like a charm
