Install a registry editor, and delete the key '\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\Windows Live'.

Next time the messaging application is restarted, hey presto, it's gone

Thanks for this.

I was already swearing up and down when the software insisted that I merge my MSN contacts with my other contacts.

Then, when it started doing that email sync WITHOUT ASKING PERMISSION, I almost lost it.

Why does Microsoft have to deliberately piss us off? I will not, I repeat will not, build my electronic communications network around their software (even though I may use MSN).

Anyways, this bump should help anyone else looking for this thread.

Edit:

My notification still shows my msn email count. Any tips?

Forget it. I just want to be rid of MSN live from my vox. Any tips? I don't see it in my remove programs list. Argh!!!

Edit:

I went to "MS Live", then "Options" or something, then "Switch Accounts". Apparently this clears out everything it has done. Then, before accepting the terms of service, I just went to task switcher and killed it. That seems to have done the trick.

not sure if this is relevent but I have the synch option set to manual and I unticked contacts and email i am using the WM5 beta though on my tornado...at first set up I had no choice but to synch emails and contacts but after the first synch you can remove the uption from the option settings and it never synchs again.

Thanks a lot.

Now we are at it: Is there a similar way to remove the create-new-account shortcut as well?
