Debranding?

Can anyone tell me how to remove the 'band' of colour which 'highlights' the word 'Orange' on the homescreen of my new SPV E650?

If I run the debranding software will this remove it? It obscures half (slight exaggeration!) of my lovely homescreen picture!!

Also, does the SPV E650 need application unlocking like the C550 or do they already come unlocked?
