Guest tkao2025 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem....every morning I take it off charge and turn the device on, but the phone keeps turning off and on...off and on.....sometimes it takes 2 cycles and sometimes it takes a few.... this morning I turned off and on and the thing kept recycling.......It took a couple of battery pulls and about 20 minutes before it would go into home screen  ....anyone else have this problem and have found the reason and possibly a fix?
Guest msaw Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 I had the same problem after installing some software. After reading some posts it came to my attention that someone stated removing the microSD card would fix the problem. I can confirm that at least for me removing the microSD made it possible to boot without problems. Hope this helps!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 I use Safemode on my device for this exact reason. I had it too, and removing duplicate notifications after a safe boot using SKTools Lite fixed it! P
Guest tkao2025 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Sorry, but this may sound stupid, but what did you do after you removed the card? Are you using your phone without the memory card right now? I would find it annoying that every time I have to turn the phone on I have to take out the mem card and put it back after. I will try and see what happens. Thanks

Taking the mem card out worked, but I hate to do it everytime I have to turn my phone on. So is this fixable in ROM update in the future?
Guest msaw Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Removing the microSD card was done once. Afterwards it worked fine with the card inside.

Guest tkao2025 Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Problem came back again.....I'm wondering if formatting the memory card will help? How does one do that on the VOX? Also will this be fixable with ROM update?

Also will this be fixable with ROM update? Use SKTOOLS, go to "Maintenance", run the "Notification Queue" tool, go to Action > Mark Duplicates and then "Delete marked". This should solve the problem.
Guest uggit Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Use SKTOOLS, go to "Maintenance", run the "Notification Queue" tool, go to Action > Mark Duplicates and then "Delete marked". This should solve the problem. My S710 started the infamous restart cycle (with microSD inserted) last week. I used SKTools to clear out duplicate entries in the Notifications Queue and that fixed the problem. Unfortunately now the scheduled Sprite Backup does not run until the first time the phone is manually unlocked. The backup used to run perfectly at 3:00AM before the restart cycle problem. I have tried changing the schedule and reinstalling Sprite Backup, but nothing has worked. I even tried a hard reset and restoring from before the recycle problem started, but the problem is still there. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Check wether you have a startup file on your microSD card. I had the same trouble because a program was supposed launching before the microSD driver was initiated... (for your information, it was SKTools Alpha 4) :)
Guest dm216 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 (edited) In my case all the advices above, unfortunately, are useless... My device (Russian ROM HTC S710) couldn't boot successfully even just after the hard reset with the empty (just from the box) microSD card inserted (without a card there were no problems). I performed that experiment with two different cards - Transcend 2Gb and Kingston 2Gb - without any success. So, I think any third-party software is not the answer. And what is the real reason? That is the question! :) Waiting for software updates from HTC... Edited July 18, 2007 by dm216
Guest Espensodal Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I'm at a loss, i have this problem, except nothing you guys say should fix it works. it never boots up for me, in goes into htc logo screen first time, then on to wm6 screen, then back to htc logo screen then reboots. If i take out the sd card, it hangs on the second HTC logo screen, its been lying still for 30 minutes now trying to boot up. without the sd card. i have never had any problems with this until i tried to uninstall the gprs monitor for one of the homescreens in here. it said that some files could not be removed and would be deleted after a reboot. if i put in my sd card again it starts rebooting all over again :-( after that i havent been able to use my phone at all. :-( anyone know if there is a reset button on the device? i dont see any. id hat to have to send it back to get a new one... hope someone here can help, i need my phone :-(

Once this is done, you may need to reconfigure your GPRS settings, resync your contacts, re-install any additional software you had previously etc After confirming your phone is working, re-insert your storage card. I hope this helps Edited July 19, 2007 by paholman

Guest fo0 Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Is it possible that a poorly seated SIM card could be causing this problem?
Guest Espensodal Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 Is it possible that a poorly seated SIM card could be causing this problem? I dont think so, i tried removing and reinserting the sim card numerous times, and when i hard reset the phone, i didnt take it out and it worked afterwards. i have had this problem after i hard reset the phone, but when i started installing all apps to the sd card, removing the card works every time, it seems to restart over and over when i have installed a new app and turning it off and back on for the first time, after that its fine until a new app is installed. However the time i didnt get the "remove sd card" to work, i had just uninstalled an app installed on the unit, not the sd card, so keep that in mind when uninstalling or installing apps.
Guest KaSt Posted July 23, 2007 Report Posted July 23, 2007 I had a similar but different problem :) Let me explain. Once I installed the VOIP pack my phone started, once in a while to stop calling. I just would hang when I tried to call. I could still receive and send SMS but won't receive or place calls. Only solution would be to power cycle it. Wasn't really hanging, just "phone" app would stop responding. When it reboot, very often it would cycle and the only solution being to remove the sd card to have it booting properly. Removed the VOIP pack, started working fine again. Anybody experiencing the same? Thanks, Ka.
Guest willis73 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 looks like a few people are experiencing the same thing... my situation is that i let my phone run out of battery completely!!! when i recharged the battery and switched back it on, the phone keypad locked up and wouldn't unlock no matter what. It would boot up and show me desktop but not allow anyhting except ignore calls?!?!? trying a hard reset now but it deosn't look good as it been stuck on the black screen with white text for 10 minutes with nothing happening!!!
Guest Espensodal Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I think i found a sollution to avoid hard reset if the phone hangs when removing the SD card. What i did was removing the sd card during initial startup (the first HTC screen, and the windowsmobile 6 screen) then when the screen switched from windows mobile screen back to HTC screen, i quickly inserted the sd card back in, and recieved the PIN code screen shortly after. only problem is when it first starts to reboot, it tends to keep doing that each time you turn it on.
Guest smackhacker Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 My phone tends to reboot again and again after having installed Facade. My solution is to switch to flight mode before turning the phone off. It starts properly each time. No long term solution, but it works.
Guest ghackett Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 I started having this problem two days ago. My first instinct, like you guys, was to pull out the microSD card, but it didn't seem to help. What did work, was when the 2nd HTC screen showed up, I popped out the keyboard and started pressing buttons. VOILA, phone started up. I turned it off last night again, and same endless restart cycle happened this morning. I tried the same trick and it started working again. I just tried shutting down the phone and restarting it again right now (just to confirm my test before posting) but I didn't run into the endless restart problem this time. This might not be the same problem, since pulling out the sd card did nothing for me, but it's worth a shot, next time you get stuck. Also, I don't know if its worth noting or not, but my vox is unlocked straight from HTC, not an Orange e650.
Guest archie_658 Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Happened to me too last night. Facade definitely has a major bug on the Vox/S710. Found any solution yet?

The trick with the keyboard worked and I've managed to get my data copied to my computer. Thanks a lot!
Guest wizgnome Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 My phone was working fine initally, then it started the endless (or at least inatially severall) reboots. Removing the sd card allowed it to start up. running SK tools seemed to fix it at first, but then the problem came back. I tried an empty card but this did not affect the problem. However I did find that setting Flight mode before a restart allowed the phone to start up without having to remove the sd card. Mike
