Guest levanter Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Hi I recently got the HTC S710 (on Vodafone via Expansys) and its great, I have just about every feature set up on the phone but I am having problems trying to use the Windows Update feature. I have been trying to use the Windows Update, but after a select "Check Now" i get an immediate message "Connection to update server was not available. Check your data connections settings and ensure the device date and time are correct." The date and time are fine and also all the other connections work. I have the phone ActiveSync'ing with a Vista Ultimate (USB) and XP Pro SP2 (Bluetooth). The pass through connection works to the internet, also I have the WiFi setup and that works fine. Also I have GPRS set up and that works fine too for surfing and MSN Live etc. I have Exchange 2007 Server ActiveSync setup and that also works.....any ideas anyone please. A friend of mine has the Orange E650 and when he attempts to connect to windows update it says "no updates available" but it connects with no problem. Any ideas would be great Thanks in advance
Guest wierni Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Same here. I think M$ doesnt have an updates or the site available yet
Guest yrreP Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Yeah, correct. MS have not "turned the server on" for lack of a better word!
Guest levanter Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Yeah, correct. MS have not "turned the server on" for lack of a better word! aha, ok :-) How come my friend who has the E650 received the message "no updates available" and I (using the HTC) get a different message. Do you get the same error message as me? Has Orange redirected the update site to one of their own, giving the different response message? ta.
Guest sveintore Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 This is not a MS decision. Each distributor has it's own settings and site for the windows update. Not all (mine included) has not set this up yet..
Guest Socrates Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 So this is an HTC problem then? As in HTC hasn't gotten around to putting up an update page yet? Is that kind of like they haven't gotten around to including gps, camera flash, and 3g in every handset yet? J/K
Guest Monolithix (MVP) Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 Presumably HTC will enable this feature in a future...er...update, heh.
