unpluging my phone makes me win an online game of command and conquer 3

today i was playing a ranked game of 1v1 on command and conquer 3 and i got a phone call with it plugged in my computer. so i was talking for a bit while playing the game. then i unplug my phone, and as soon as i do this command and conquer 3 says ive lost my network connection and it shows the other player being defeated and i got the win for it. it didnt even show as a disconnect. hm.... i dont think EA would appreciete this, but its weird that it does that.

my guess is it has to do with the usb pass thru connection being lost and somehow interfearing with my actual internet connection.
