the best spv for gps

The missus has asked me for a gps device as she will be doin a bit of driving around soon. I currently have it already installed in my m3100 and use a bluetooth gps unit and it works a treat. The thing is I cant lend her this as it then means I will be without a phone, so I have been looking at some cheap smartphones.

What I would like to know is if I get a c500 or something will it work. Also will tomtom5 for pocket pc be ok with it or is there a specific version for smartphones?

Also if anyone has got any general advice as to another cheap alternative I would be eternally grateful.

TomTom works on the Smartphone, but I believe it is a different download. I have personally used Mapopolis (now defunt) on a smartphone and the size was not a problem at all.

Any WM5 device is fine....check out ebay for some good deals.

Why not look at the M700? It has GPS onboard and so will accept TomTom. I'm intending to get one for myself and one for the missus and sell the car's iPAQ & GPS cradle.

so which tomtom is for what. tomtom mobile/navigator. is one for ppc and the other for smartphone. are there specific versions for symbian/wm?

Windows mobile 5 smartphone, does that require different version of tomtom then just windows mobile 5.

You can buy my Smarthpone if you like?? I have a SPV C550 with TomTom already pre-installed (I have the hard copy too) on the Memory card. Works a treat, never had any problems with it. I will be keeping the Bluetooth GPS if you do decide to buy though as I will need it for the next smartphone I get... which I haven't decided on yet!! I do need to shift mine though as I'm buying a new one so I'll give you first refusal if you like!
