Guest mrplatypus Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 (edited) Has anyone else seen the new orange device configuration? I have a new m3100 with the Orange Device Configuration .. personally, I don't like the configuration so much that I have hard reset and interrupted the configuration files running so that my lovely pda-phone is running like my old m1000 and m500 used to. What are everyones comments on the Telephone Operators own configurations, not just Orange?? Edited May 14, 2007 by mrplatypus
Guest Phil John Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 (edited) I'm on T-Mob, and apart from the garish pink colour scheme (which I changed quicksharp back to the WM5 default blue) I haven't really noticed anything annoying that got in the way. On the contrary, the large icons for mail, contacts, organizer etc. are a nice touch. Edited May 17, 2007 by Phil John
Guest tsutton Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 I'm the same with T-Mobile... did a hard reset and before it loads up the device customise, I soft reset (reboot) and I have a clean interface. Then I install what is needed (i.e. patches, etc) from Extended ROM and my phone is done. & clean from Operator crapo.
Guest jimbouk Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 All you need to do with Orange, is change the today theme to one of your own choice and untick the orange plug in on the items tab. Most people will want the customisations to run in order to set up mms, connections etc. Most O WM devices for the last few years have run with that today screen.
Guest UndeadDevil Posted May 30, 2007 Report Posted May 30, 2007 I don't like T-Mobiles stuff. At least I don't like the horrid Icons they install.
Guest The Doctor Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 I don't like T-Mobiles stuff. At least I don't like the horrid Icons they install. The ONLY two things I like in the T-Mobile customisations are the 'Running programs' shortcut and the 3G icon... I let the customisations install, backed up those two things, then hard-reset and soft reset  Phil

You use to be able to map a shortcut to the Running Programs bit of the setting in WM5 and WM6 AKU>0.2.1. However tmobile provides an app which works on every ROM and also has a nice icon. The 3G icont ot indicate your on a 3G network is alot nicer than Oranges 3G icon or the standard U icon you get if you reset before the customisations install... Phil
Guest UndeadDevil Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Can you tell me what the Running Programs CAB is? The filenames are don't make much sense and I don't want to install anything I dont wan't.

The filenames are don't make much sense and I don't want to install anything I dont wan't. Its in the cab that installs all the crappy T-Mobile icons... Hence why i said I left the customisations install, backup RunningPrograms.exe in the /Windows directory and then hard reset, and soft reset before the customisations install.. To change the U icon to the 3G icon, see my tutorial HERE Phil

Sorry it has taken me a long while to reply, been busy with a thing called, "Work" .. it kind of gets in the way occasionally. :) Still, it pays the bills! For a laugh, I have reset my phone to test your point. I confirm that your instructions give the illusion of a "clean" device. I will give things a go for a while and see how many lovely phone [mis]behaves with the Orange customisations in place. I however [still] agree with the remainder of the census on modaco, that the operator stuff does get in the way. It makes me think what other orange settings are there? Does anyone know, or can they be found out and documented here?
