Activesync error message "The Path My Pictures contains an invalid character"

Long story (aren't they always?!) but activesync doesn't seem to be working - and I get the error message "The Path My Pictures contains an invalid character" when I try to upgrade to the latest 4.5 of activesync. I get the same message when trying to uninstall it too, which has left me agaog, perplexed, call it what you want, but i can't sync at the moment! Anyone got any advice on how to solve this?

have you tried the usb switch for activesync?

You might try renaming your My Pictures folder so it doesn't see it anymore and see if that will let you sync again. You might also try checking every photo in that file and see if maybe one of them has been named using a non-english character of some type (something along the lines of a wingding character or a corrupted font type) and either renaming the photo or deleting it all together.
