It depends, if the phone was a legitimate legal purchase, your best bet is to ask the person you bought it from what the password is, if not, good luck cuz I think you're on your own here.

If it wasn't a legitimate purchase, the ESN is blocked and the phone is useless. Depending on the ROM version on the phone, you can hard reset it by holding the red power button and the center button of the d-pad at the same time until a message comes up asking if you want to master reset. If it doesn't come up, you probably have an older ROM on the phone, and you could flash the ROM available on Motorola's website, and it should remove the password when you do.

Read the setting up your phone portion of the manual that came in your box. It explains the preset master security code and what it will likely be.

Yeah Hoo!! Worked like a charm 4 me - thanx a bunch, er, "smeg36"... I can't speak 4 anyone but myself, but in MY case, I'd just SET the pw, forgot to recharge the battery b4 it died & thought 4 a nano about jotting down said pw, but no. .. :D

But ur right, smeg36, also, on count 1. I own my phone outright - & pay monthly insurance on the f*kker, 2! B)

That sed, I do not, nor will I EVER hesitate2 call & kill service on a phone the moment I ascertain it's left my possession. ;)

...So, why again am i resetting this byzantine mfing pw? Or, 4that matter, enabling it in the 1st? :D

anyway, jimbo, i'd personslly be interested 2f/o what happened when u reset the pw? it workin 4 ya now? Like, so ru 'mobile' or what? :P

 ...thx...
