If so, you'll be pleased to hear that 'BirdieSync' has been updated to allow you to sync your content to your Windows Mobile device via Activesync / WMDC.BirdieSync™ allows synchronization of your contacts, appointments, tasks and mails between Pocket Outlook™ on your mobile with Thunderbird™ and Lightning™ or Sunbird™ on your PC. Based on ActiveSync® technology and the Windows Mobile Device Center, items are synchronized as soon as your mobile is connected to your PC. Every creation, modification or deletion of a contact, appointment, task or mail on one of the devices are automatically transferred to the other one. Enjoy! ;) P Wow, this was a popular topic! Anyone ever give this a try? I have recently started trying Thunderbird and as of yesterday started using Sunbird (iCal compatibility needed). So this would be perfect.

Guest Dr Who Posted October 25, 2007 Report Posted October 25, 2007 Hah, I know, I like to think I helped SOMEONE! ;) P Well, after having my laptop nicked last week I have been relegated to a Win2K desktop. I had forgotten how fab Win2K actually was. Running on something like 5 year old hardware it is faster than much newer the XP laptop I was using. So, I had been using webmail but prompted by Pauls note about GMail IMAP I thought I would install Thunderbird and give the Gmail a try. I then thought I might as well install Sunbird for my Calendar app and THEN I thought I would give birdiesync a try. So running Win2K SP4 both Async 4.5 and Birdiesync 2.0 installed like a charm. Birdiesync sits on top of async and integrates into Thunderbird and Sunbird. So when I connect my phone it syncs and runs Async as usual. Birdiesync adds another set of sync options in Async, so I still have the full set of options for Outlook but I now also have some new options for syncing with the Mozilla apps. In other words as long as you only tick one set (Mozilla or Outlook) you can sync with either app. So far seems pretty cool. I hesitated on Sunbird because I read somewhere it doesn't do popup reminders, but the version I have installed does do this, so as long as you don't mind having two apps running rather than one you can replace Outlook completely. And the Thunderbird mail application, its handling of imap and its spam filters are streets ahead of Outlook (2003 at least). I will be purchasing this one after my 21 day trial methinks!

My trial has just run out and now i am seriously thinking about buying this. If only outlook xp remembered passwords in vista then i wouldnt have had to spend any money! ;)

Sunbird is a completely seperate app but it is a calendar app. Had a bit of fun today, in that Sunbird craftily updated itself to 0.7 some time in the last week and, guess what, birdiesync doesn't support 0.7. Or didn't till yesterday. Had to actually uninstall Sunbird and Birdiesync to get it to work but no biggie.
