First you need to check your notification queue: you can use Memmaid, Sk Tools or Checknotifications (last is free, but the others are a good investment as they do a lot of other things). When you check, use the inbuilt function to remove duplicates, and then carefully check all the entries which start Calendar and have a description, to make sure that all events are in the future, not the past. Delete any that are in the past. Do not delete things that are not obvious to you what they are, just leave those. (This should get rid of all the 'weirdness'). If you are using a screensaver disable it If you are using a locking and/or password mechanism disable it Go to the power settings start/settings/system/power/advanced and untick these options, then keep the device on charge overnight. Test the alarm. If it still doesn't work, you may need: pocketwakeup (free) to adjust the amount of time your device 'stays awake' in the background when it has tasks to accomplish. If that doesn't work, tick the box on pocketwakeup to 'wake device to full power'. (you can do these last 2 through the registry, but pocketwakeup is free and easier). When you set the alarm, remember to allow enough time for it to 'take' before turning the device off. Then your alarms should work. You can then play around with a combination of the above, to see which work still and which don't, eg you may be able to lock your screen and they still work. If they don't work, then you can do a hard reset, and re-install either a backup (they may work then) Or re-install everything from scratch. They are sure to work then. Good luck, this is a nasty problem and microsoft are still nowhere near solving it even with WM6.
Guest Posted May 18, 2007 Report Posted May 18, 2007 Just a quick thought - you haven't got SPB Mobile Shell installed by any chance have you? The only reason i'm asking is that I installed it on my Vario II and I got exactly the same problem - it's riddled with bugs and there's lots of posts about it over on the SPB forum.

I am using Spb Shell, and the fixes I posted above work for me while using Shell. I now haven't had a failed alarm for days. The developers are working on this and hopefully will fix this soon.

I'll try the fixes above and let you know how i get on. thanks for the help.
Guest cmaurer Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 I tried installing memaid and deleting the notification items but this didn't seem to work. in the end I have uninstalled Spb mobile shell and everything has gone back to normal. I may try a hard reset at some point and try reinstalling MS but at the moment i'm just glad the alarms are working again. thanks for all the advice.
