Smartphone recommendations

I'm new to the forum but I have been reading threads and decided to joing and ask.

I am new to the Smartphone scene but I have brand new HTC P4000 from Telus. From what I've read I believe this is also called a TyTn and that HTC is also Audiovox? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

So I mainly got it because I needed a cell phone and an organizer. I am using it to active sync my work’s Outlook and Exchange server over wi-fi which is pretty cool. I use tasks and Outlook calendar robustly at work and constantly set alarms for myself to do things I usually forget and it’s been working out quite well for me.

I am interested in any other recommended applications. I am not so interested in playing games on (I have an Xbox360 for that when I’m at home). I like to read news and watch video of key sports plays, which I am finding is few and far between. I have subscribed to Avant Go for news updates and it seems pretty cool so far. Although like I say, I’m new to it. I wouldn’t mind something with video.

Are there any good vid-casts anyone can recommend subscribing to? Are there any good websites with news in video segments or anything like that? I am not sure if I’d need another organizer application because I am in a forced marriage with Outlook because of work but I suppose there could be improved Smartphone clients that work with Outlook.

Oh, I don’t see why I’d need a screen saver because I just turn it off when I’m done but cool background wallpaper would be nice. Dictionary/Thesaurus, maps (non-GPS). I have installed Skype and use it as a messenger and have tried Skype out but find the comm. Quality to be horrible, I’ve never been able to have a conversation through it – not sure if there is anything I can do to improve Skype out over wi-fi.

I’ll stop here. There is so much I have to learn and there is so much good reading to do here, although I’m finding I only pay attention to stuff that says it’s specifically applies to windows mobile. Thanks for any advice.
