Guest stengol Posted May 20, 2007 Report Posted May 20, 2007 I recently bought a second hand hermes (orange stylie) after my Blue Angel died. Started to have probelms pretty much straight away. Could not see my BT headset although every other phone I tried it on had no problem, then the camera would not boot up. Then I had problems getting a sync connection. I thought I would upgrade the ROM as orange have just brought out a new one. The problem is that you start the upgrade in Activesync then it closes that down and starts up a separate USB connection to do the upgrade. No matter what I do I cannot get it to see the phone with this USB connection. It starts the upgrade OK then as soon as it closes autosync and tries to connect over the USB it loses the phone as the install stalls. Help please. I have a half functional phone and at the moment just wish I had the Blue Angel back.

If so the orange upgrade may not be the best choice. If the phone has been upgraded to WM6 previously, or even just had the bootloader upgraded, I believe the orange upgrade will have problems. Anyway, step one, try unticking the enahnced networking options under connections/usb Other than that, there was a post on xda-developers regarding doing that upgrade where the bootloader had been upgraded. Not sure it was exactly straightforward tho. Jumped straight to WM6 so didn't bother woth the orange upgrade when it came out.
Guest llch_81 Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 On top of that.. you might want to let windows install the drivers for it first.. It takes abit so don't get all freaky...

Thanks for that idea. I will take out the activesync and try to get windows to see it first. You never know your luck!
Guest The Doctor Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Thanks for that idea. I will take out the activesync and try to get windows to see it first. You never know your luck! Before you attempt to flash any ROMs, I'd advise you to flash Hard-SPL V7, available HERE. This will prevent your phone from becoming a complete brick if anything interrupts the upgrade process. I've attached it here in this post anyway for you. Instructions: Download and unzip Hard-SPL V7.zip (attached) Connect your phone with your PC, making sure the active sync icon is GREEN. Run RUUWrapper.exe Wait while it flashes your phone. You will notice, when you turn on/reset your device, the green charged light will be on, indicating you have Hard-SPL installed. After you've flashed Hard-SPL V7, download the attached RUUWrapper.zip and extract it to a folder Use winRAR to extract the EXE orange upgrade file. You will notice that there is a .NBH file in there, copy this to where you unzipped RUUWrapper.zip to. You must NOT use the RUUWrapper.exe from the Hard-SPL V7 directory. Connect your phone with your PC, making sure the active sync icon is GREEN. Run RUUWrapper.exe and then select AutoDetect. (you may have to authorize this on your device as well) it will automagically detect you have 2.10 installed Then select next and follow all the instructions through to update your ROM  PhilHard_SPL_V7.zipRUUWrapper.zip
