total newbie with orange SPV m3100

Hello,

I have just got a new spv m3100, i notice after reading some of your posts that there is quite alot i can do with my new phone.

I have a few questions if i may list them...

1. I have wi-fi in my home and got it working with the phone, but i cant quite telling when i connect to orange world or if i am use data from my wi-fi or orangeworld.

2. I would like to use the "hermes" software, but have never even heard of it and am not sure of the dangers messing with the phone.

Sorry to sound an idiot here, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hermes is the HTC codename for your device :rolleyes:

1. tap on the 3G icone at the top and disconnect the data conenction - if you can surf without it you are using wifi.

(or just do a speed test / use GPRS monitor)

2. go to www.xda-developers.com, click on the "wiki" link, and look up the hermes device.

Read a lot, and think what do you want to do with your phone?
