Guest mstephenson Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 Does anyone know if there is a mobile browser that allows downloads? I'm basically trying to download .wma or .mpeg files whilst using I.E on my phone but always get a message saying 'this type of file is not viewable on the device' or something sinilar. Is this just due to using I.E or do none of the browsers allow downloads of these files?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 I get that in IE sometimes, and just use Opera instead  P
Guest mstephenson Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 (edited) I get that in IE sometimes, and just use Opera instead  P Thanks Paul, I've already been looking at trying Opera out...i've posted another message about that this morning! In case you didn't see it, ive had a few problems downloading it on my phone (keeps saying no free storage space when there is). So, I'm going to try downloading it to the PC then moving it over to my phone. My problem is where do I move the cab file to? What folder is it? And what do I need to do from there? Be very gratefull if you (or anyone else!) could help me with this, thanks Edited May 23, 2007 by mstephenson
Guest tsutton Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 (edited) Move the cab file to anywhere on your storage card and run it from there. It will install to the correct directory and delete the cab file itself. Edited May 23, 2007 by tsutton

It will install to the correct directory and delete the cab file itself. Tnaks for that, I did have a quick play around with it yesterday-moved the cab file across but nothing happened. I presumed it'd start automatically as this is what happens when I install most things. Do I need to do anything to start the installation off?
Guest tsutton Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 You will have to run the file form your phone - using File Explorer

Guest mstephenson Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 Just a quick follow up to say that all worked fine and i'm now using Opera  stil getting used to it but loving it so far! Biggest feature has to be support for multiple windows, only being able to have one in I.E was such a drag. I should've started using this months ago! Seems to be a fair bit faster than I.E as well which is always good-quicker navigation round pages too, although not quite as easy on the eye. So far so good anyway, I think this may well become my default browser
