Guest Socrates Posted May 23, 2007 Report Posted May 23, 2007 So techincally, the s710 doesn't have a home on a carrier in the US. However, mobileplanet (expansys usa) offers it at a deep deep discount when ordered with a T-Mobile activiation - it's $194 out the door with a plan I needed to pick up anyway compared to $475 for the handset by itself. I've never ordered a non-carrier phone like this before, but the old SMT5600 has just way over served it's life expectancy and is on it's last gasps, and ever since Cingular first bought AT&T they have been screwing around with my bill so I'm off to a carrier with better customer service ratings after 10+ years on the blue. I guess my big fear is that I'm going to have all kinds of compatibility problems with the s710 and maybe not be able to get it on the Internet very easily. Anyone have any tips on what to watch out for?
Guest taffer Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 It's really not that bad. Like you mentioned, the only issue is that your GPRS/MMS settings aren't built into the phone as if you bought the phone from a specific carrier. The settings aren't too hard to find, so just do a little search on Google or this forum.

I just bought the phone from Mobileplanet, for AT&T here stateside. Been running it for about 4 days now, and I love it! Most of the settings concerning your calling features are automatically configured, as is your MMS and SMS settings. This phone is great, and well worth the money!
Guest genaldar Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 The gprs settings from page 1 of the sda FAQ over at hofo should work on the vox. That is if you're using the $5.99 plan, for the $29.99 plan the settings Letentk listed are correct.
Guest Socrates Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Those settings posted above worked like a charm. Thanks again. This phone is great. The only thing I've had a little trouble with is the wifi. Seems a little picky, but I've got it working now.
