I had the same problem, but i rang my cell provider. And the guy i spoke to told me that there are no smartphones that will sync with Windows Vista. What i had to do was re-install Windows XP. Shame, but Vista isn't ready. I am waiting for Service Pack 1, then hopefully my device will work.

I dont think that is correct. There are tons of pages online explaining how to do it, including microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx . Type in something like wmdc troubleshooting in google, and a ton of pages on this topic will come up. thanks for you comment though

Well i am not so sure, considering Microsoft Windows Vista won't even detect the devices.

Yeah, do this.

Saying that a Smartphone wont sync to Vista is cr4p! Don't beleive them!

I have synced loads of smartphones to Vista at work with little to no trouble.

The MDC update is the key.

I don't think what i said is "cr4p". I have seen many smartphones work with ActiveSync but none with the new Mobile Device Center. And i work with Pocket PC's and Smartphones.

Maybe your device worked, but i tried at least 20. Oh by the way, where is the update? I don't remember Vista updating the MDC???

Sorry, I was suggesting that what the guy at your cellphone provider said, about Smartphones not syncing, was cr4p.

I also work with a lot with HTC devices and have not encountered any problems.

This is the update - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx

You know if you have it already as there will be an independant program in Programs and Features.

YEA I FINALLY GOT IT!!! Windows update is the key - BUT you must run it with the phone plugged into the computer, or else it wont download the update. thanks so much!!!

So i got it to sync fine using usb, but now i'm trying to use bluetooth, and its not working. but on the phone and in the bluetooth control panel, there is no option for activesync/wmdc (it usually shows up in the available services, but it doesnt in vista) is there any way to sync w/ bluetooth? thanks!

I'm having a problem with my lobster/monet.  If the phone is attached to my vista pc as it reboots, then it is detected, but if it is not, or it is unplugged and plugged in again, it is not detected by the pc.  Although the Microsoft driver appears under the Network Adaptors tab in the Device
