Full screen brightness with low battery - possible?

Hi!

I am using a Samsung SGH-i600.

When the battery gets low on power, the screen brightness is automatically reduced to an absolute minimum. But then trying to read anything on the display in bright sunlight is absolutely impossible.

How can I adjust this setting, i.e. I want to have full screen brightness, even if the battery is low.

Is there a registry tweak to bypass the automatic dim-out?
