Undo Sync

Its a long story but my dad just got his first WM5 device, i convinced him it would be painless to sync etc. However he has a laptop and a pc which he has not managed to synch outlook properly so the contacts on each are different (before he had his WM deveice). He manged to sync his Treo with the PC no problem but when he connected to the laptop he ended up with loads of old contacts on the device he didnt want. Then the old fool synced with the pc 'by mistake' and now has hundreds of old conacts on his pc as well! I dont think he has an old backup of his contacts. I know its unlikely but is there a way to 'undo' a sync either on the device or the pc?

What I would do.....

Don't make any changes on any of 3 devices!

Backup PST file on PC

Then

Delete all contacts from Laptop

ReSync Laptop with Treo

This should delete the unwanted contacts from the Treo

Resync with PC

Youi should end up with all 3 devices with all contacts EXCEPT those which had last been updated on the laptop - if there are any then make sure you don't delete them from the laptop if you want to keep them.

I have never done this but in theory it *should* work!
