Guest chip_pan Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) Hi Guys, 2nd post, shame it's about a problem  My E650, 3 weeks old, has started switching itself off when I slide the keyboard shut. It starts up again ok, but given the boot up time, this is obviously very annoying!! Is this a known problem or just a dodgy unit? I'm new to Orange, so how are they when it comes to dealing with replacement handsets? Thanks in advance! C PS. Sorry about the other 2 posts that have appeared, I'm hoping a friendly MOD will delete - not a great start on this forum! Edited June 1, 2007 by chip_pan
Guest Griff_FFOC Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Doesn't sound right, and you're the first i've heard of it happening to. If you're on contract, just ring 150 and they should swap it for you no problem i'd expect.

IIRC, Orange shop purchases can be sorted out in store for up to 28 days... i got mine sorted no problems although it was within 7 days. Otherwise its a call to customer services.
Guest chip_pan Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Might have got to the bottom of this! The sim card door has an interlock which cuts the power when it's opened. It's on the screen/keyboard bit that you slide, and when it reaches the end of travel, open or closed, it can trip and cut the phone out. It might vary depending on unit, and maybe the switch in mine does quite fully close, but if anyone else has a similar problem, then this might be the cause.
