Guest Harroguk Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 Got another odd problem here. My set up is... HTC S710 (Hard Reset) Installed UK_setup.exe And installed the settings for T-Mobile. T-Mobile Sim only contract (£7.50 p/m with WnW Plus enabled to allow IM) GPRS works correctly meaning that I can browse the web and download emails with no trouble. Windows Live Messenger Mobile prompts for all the information as a normal setup would however when performing step 5/5 (Checking Internet Connectivity) it displays the messageWindows Live is unable to connect. the service maybe temporarily unavailable, or you may be in a place where data coverage isnt very good. Please Try again laterIf I enable Wifi I can connect to WLM successfully with no errors. The same error occurs with my wifes T-Mobile SIM card (which works with IM on her handset) inserted into my phone. Anyone got any suggestions? It would appear to be a device setting is wrong somewhere.

Fixed the problem by changing Start==>Settings==>GPRS==>T-Mobile Internet==>Connects to: to "The Internet" instead of T-Mobile Internet All is working fine now

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 Yeah, it's because of the proxies that the standard HTC setup adds. P
Guest skazz Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 Have you been able to get Windows Live Hotmail push email to work consistently? I posted about it a few weeks back but nobody seems to bother with it, even though it should only be a couple of clicks away for anyone who has set up windows live messenger/hotmail sync to their Vox...
Guest S710demon Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 I have the push email service working on my S710. Have changed nothing of the original settings.
Guest skazz Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I have the push email service working on my S710. Have changed nothing of the original settings. Just to be clear: You have windows live hotmail set to sync continuously (i.e. push email), and it is happy to do this and keep doing this without timing out on you after the first sync? If so, then I must be doing something stupid, or Orange's E650 has some default setting somewhere changed
Guest S710demon Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 I have yet to experience problems with Windows live.... Could be Orange that closes the connection. T-mobile keeps it open.
Guest jporch316 Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 my problem is th eopposite - i have installed windows live messenger on my orange e650 and it works fine over GPRS/edge. The moment i connect to my wireless router (which connects fine) and try to logon to messenger i get the Windows Live is unable to connect. the service maybe temporarily unavailable, or you may be in a place where data coverage isnt very good. Please Try again later any ideas?
Guest skazz Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 I thought I'd update this with my new info... I set up Windows Live sync to be "as email arrives" but this time instead of chosing to sync "always" I told it only to sync between 09:00 and 21:00 (as a test). This time, windows live is remaining connected, and each new hotmail email I receive is immediately announced on the smartphone. Working great. To reply about sync via GPRS or via WLAN: I can connect to sync Windows Live hotmail or to get messenger running via both options without problems. Haven't tested push email via WLAN yet though.
Guest jporch316 Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 all solved (found the answer in another thread) changed wifi to best performance i woulda got away with it as well if it werent for those pesky netgear sky routers!
Guest whatEver63 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 where can I download windows live messenger for my E650? Rgds Ian

It would appear to be a device setting is wrong somewhere. I've recently acquired this problem, I upgraded my Hermes with the HTC Tytn WM6 ROM and applied HTC's UK operator settings for T-mobile. Web works fine, but no messenger client will connect to msn messenger. Unfortunately the fix the OP used isn't available for me, I don't have an "Internet" option, just a "T-Mobile Internet" one. I've tried every different setup I can think of: different DNS, proxies, authentication methods, the whole works. There must be something I'm missing. Anybody got any bright ideas?
