Guest rhoders Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 i recently bought a m3100 second hand with no sim card. it is running windows mobile 6 premium (this was installed by the previous owner). i currently have 2 minor problems. the wi-fi will connect with my network but i cant view web pages or use windows live. it simply says it cannot connect to the web page. the network never shows as "orange 3G". do i have to have a special sim card?, or do i have to tell orange im using a 3G phone? (although this may be down to poor 3G coverage in my area) i would appreciate any help with these problems. thank you
Guest UndeadDevil Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 You can't get Orange 3G sim cards without buying a 3G phone from them. So you have no 3G or HSDPA (If you really need one I have a Orange 3G sim) I'd recommend changing to another network if your planning on using the Internet on your phone. Orange are very bad for Data. As for the WiFi, I have no problems with mine since upgrading to Windows Mobile 6. Are you sure your connected properly. If you enter a wrong Encyption Key the phone will not tell you, it just won't give you any acess.
Guest rhoders Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 cheers for that. im not too bothered about the 3G really, just wondering about it. with regards to the wifi, it says im connected and i have tried deleting the network settings and then re-entering them but still no luck. the network key is definatly right.
Guest pd.ryder Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Get a T-Mobile USIM for not very much from T direct, add W&W at £7.50 - job done :P I had major problems initially when trying to access WiFi networks. Does the 'network card' connect to The Internet or Work? By that I mean the WiFi part of the M3100. Now on my measley WM5 Vario II, thats in Comm Manager>Settings>WLan Settings>Menu>Network Cards>Network Adapters. Make sure that My network card connects to: 'The Internet'. That seemed to solve my problems anyway  :D
Guest rhoders Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 i have tried that and it still doesnt seem to want to connect very much. i thought it may be my router but i had no luck connecting an open network in a bar. today i saw an "E" on the menu bar instead of the normal "G"....whats up with that?
